Coffee is among the most traded commodities and has major economic relevance for many coffee exporting countries. Over 125 Mio. people worldwide depend on coffee production for their livelihood.

But changing climate conditions are already causing immense hardship for many of these producers. Coffee eco-systems are highly vulnerable to changing climate conditions, such as rising temperatures and unstable and extreme weather conditions.

Too little knowledge about effective adaptation approaches is reaching farmers. Action needs to be taken now in order to enhance the resilience of coffee production. To respond to this challenge, the initiative for coffee & climate has developed a comprehensive approach to climate change adaptation.

Examples from four pilot regions (Brazil, Tanzania, Vietnam and Trifinio) are shown.
